Tennessee U.S. Representative Chuck Fleischmann (R-TN-03) was recently awarded the United States Nuclear Industry Council’s (USNIC) prestigious Distinguished Leadership Award for his nearly 13 years of “vigorous advocacy for advancing America’s nuclear preeminence.”
USNIC is the “leading U.S. business advocate for advanced nuclear energy and promotion of the American supply chain globally.”
I'm honored to be the only Member of Congress in the House or Senate to receive @US_NIC's Distinguished Leadership Award!

“I am honored to receive the USNIC’s Distinguished Leadership Award. Since coming to Congress in 2011, I have made it one of my top priorities to keep America the world leader in nuclear technologies and advance nuclear power, research, and technologies throughout our great nation,” Fleischmann said in a statement.
“I am proud that because of my efforts to increase funding and support from Congress for all things nuclear, we are seeing breakthroughs in nuclear fusion, cancer-curing isotopes, safer and more effective advanced nuclear power reactors, and unlocking the mysteries of the atom,” Fleischmann continued.
Fleischmann was the only Member of Congress in both the House of Representatives and Senate to receive the USNIC’s award.
The Tennessee congressman represents the state’s Third Congressional District, which includes the City of Oak Ridge – known for its role in developing the nuclear technology that ended WWII. The Oak Ridge Reservation currently consists of three government owned, contractor operated sites: East Tennessee Technology Park (ETTP), Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), and Y-12 National Security Complex (Y-12).
Fleischmann currently serves as Chairman of the House Appropriations Energy and Water Subcommittee and as Co-Chairman of the House National Labs Caucus.
“I am committed that I will do everything in my power to be the strongest advocate for strengthening America’s nuclear leadership here at home and abroad. Our great nation was the first to fully harness the power of the atom 80 years ago, and the United States must continue to lead the way,” Fleischmann added. “It is an honor to be the only Member of Congress to receive this Distinguished Leadership Award. I will do my utmost to continue leading America’s nuclear renaissance and push my colleagues in Congress and the government to support our nation’s nuclear industry.”

You bet. There is one Tennessee Republican congressman who is the very model of a Chamber of Commerce/National Association of Manufactures representative in the House a;nd that congressman is none other than our award winner Chuck Fleischmann (Heritage-74%) As the most liberal Republican from Tennessee in Congress I am glad to see him get some recognition from big business that he serves so well.
